I don’t drink milk. I haven’t liked milk since I was very young. Here’s why, not why I don’t drink milk, I just don’t like it, but why it’s really good not to drink it or feed it to your kids. I see milk as being no different then Coke or Pepsi, so let’s talk milk.
• The price of killing the pathogenic bacteria in milk by pasteurization and homogenization is that you also kill the good bacteria which helps digest milk and make it such a nourishing food.
• Many Proteins and Enzymes are completely destroyed or denatured which makes them less digestible and less usable by your body.
• Immunoglobulins, metal-binding proteins, vitamin-binding proteins, carrier proteins, growth factors, and anti-microbial peptides such as Lactoferrin are all destroyed.
• Many vitamins and minerals are rendered biologically unusable
• Fats are damaged and destabilized
Additionally, the bacteria killed by pasteurization are not removed, so their dead carcasses remain in the milk to ignite immune reactions in those who ingest them, which is one major cause of milk allergies. It isn’t really an allergy to the milk itself, but to the organic cell fragments it contains. Yuk.
Making matters worse, cows in CAFOs (Confined Animal Feeding Operations) are routinely given drugs in an effort to counter the ill health and immune problems caused by their poor living conditions. Feedlots are breeding grounds for all kinds of harmful bacteria. So the cows are snowed with antibiotics.
Our milk HAS to be pasteurized, because it is simply loaded with bacteria—and not the beneficial kind.
Researchers using a highly sensitive test to determine what drugs and hormones might be present in YOUR pasteurized store bought milk found some startling results. Yes they did. The drugs and hormones they detected in milk included the following:
Anti-inflammatories like:
niflumic acid
mefenamic acid
ketoprofen
diclofenac
phenylbutazone
naproxen
flunixin
diclofenac
Antibiotics like:
florfenicol
The sex hormone:
17-beta-estradiol
The anti-fungal drug:
Triclosan (check your toothpaste for that too)
The Steroidal Hormone:
17-alpha-ethinylestradiol)
The Anti-malaria drug:
pyrimethamine
According to RealMilk.com, the United States’ largest recorded outbreak of Salmonella resulted from pasteurized milk, but alarmingly, the CDC never issued a specific Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report for this outbreak. There were 200,000 sick people and 18 of us died. This happened between July of 1984 until April of 1985.
The CDC and FDA have never issued a warning against commercially pasteurized milk but the war on raw milk is on.
CDC and FDA keep statistics on raw milk illnesses and deaths. They cite 2 deaths between 1998 and 2008 and other data regarding illnesses. No one has ever died from drinking raw milk, I promise. The statistics are seriously flawed and pure fantasy. I won’t take the time to explain this here now. You’ll have to believe me or do the research yourself.
Some of the many reasons we humans originally drank raw milk 100s and 1000s of years ago are fascinating:
It’s full of more than 60 digestive enzymes, growth factors, and immunoglobulins (antibodies), it’s rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which fights cancer, it’s rich in beneficial raw fats, amino acids, and proteins in a highly bioavailable form, all 100 percent digestible and it’s loaded with vitamins (A, B, C, D, E, and K) in highly bioavailable forms, and a very balanced blend of minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron) whose absorption is enhanced by live lactobacilli.
It is not uncommon for people who drink raw milk to experience improvement or complete resolution of troubling health issues—everything from allergies to digestive problems to eczema. It is also common for people who have “milk allergies” to tolerate raw milk just fine. Pasteurized milk is a completely different story.
I can’t get raw milk in Minneapolis easily. I can get it, but not easily. So I don’t drink store bought milk. It looks like Coke and Pepsi to me, but worse, if that’s possible.
